So thrilled to be Celebrating Life & the Art of Gratitude with 8 other lovely artists.

I’ll be featuring an interview and info about each artist’s creative projects leading up to the start of the e-course on October 4th.  Mary Pressel Cline is today’s featured artist and has the joy of offering the content and projects for the fifth week of the course.

Fellow contributing artist, Lara Cornell, set up the following interview questions and these are Mary’s replies.

Lara: What are you most grateful for?

Mary: There are so many things I am grateful for.  I will choose a few to share – I am grateful for Love, my health, my friends, wonderment and color the ability to make and create, a roof over my head, a small studio and caramel apple season is upon us. Yes!

Lara: How do you prefer to show your gratitude?

Mary: I have a tag punch that I punch out little tags, different colors for each month, then on the tags I capture moments that I am grateful for and throw them into my grateful jar. At the end of the year I string them all together and review them. Warms my heart and then I put them in an art journal. I have a lot to be grateful for.

Lara: What are your favorite fall season traditions?

Mary: I love gathering in for Thanksgiving.  I know it sounds cliche but it is one of my favorite holidays. Food, grace, family, laughter, a dash of football, more laughter. I also like to celebrate my wedding anniversary, looking at our old album and remembering those that are no longer with us – insert the Beatles Song “In My Life” here. Fall is a tender time, watching the days grow shorter and the winds grow colder.

Lara: Do you have any favorite fall season art/crafts/etc?

Mary: I love to decorate my house inside and out for Fall.  Drape the mantel and shelves with soft orange and purple lights. Hang fake fall leaves that are intertwined, go to the Farmers Market and buy some bittersweet and pumpkins and mums.

Lara: Why did you decide to be part of this group of artists for this project?

Mary: I really admire all the artists in this group. A fine bunch of women. I also wanted to share my love of painting and mark making. This is my first online class so it was challenging (scary, gulp) but so well worth it. I am pleased as punch to be able to take the lessons along with everyone.
