May Blessings Bloom

May Blessings Bloom! <3 My primary words/sentiment for 2016 is “trust grace” which has become a prayer/blessing of sorts: trust grace, reverence, and delight. I always have a hard time choosing just 1 word for a year so the roses in this painting incorporate many of the words I considered (or have chosen in the past), which are also hopes/dreams/prayers for us all. The text in the rising sun reads “may blessings bloom”. Before painting the roses, I wrote many things I’m grateful for in the first layer underneath. Unfortunately, the fun shimmering silver ink that I used for her face does not scan well. She is radiantly shimmering in the original and reminds me of stardust. πŸ™‚ <3

I’m participating in a collaborative creative project where all the artists started using the same face sketch as a template and that an artist friend, Juna BiagioniΒ from the Netherlands, is putting together as a compilation for New Year’s well wishes to the world. This is my contribution. πŸ™‚ I’ll be sure to share the entire compilation of art when Juna has it all ready!

This was also inspired by Effy Wild’s recent Life Book lesson with similar roses and her idea about “effort as offering”.

Wishing you all beautiful blessings in the New Year and always. <3

I love all of the roses surrounding the face. They are glorious and your handwriting on them is so delicate. Lovely idea. I can just imagine her face shimmering in the light. Are you taking Life Book next year too, Julia?

Thanks so much, Laura! πŸ™‚ I really debated whether or not to do Life Book again since I’ve probably only managed less than half of the lessons this year, but YES, I’ve decided to give it another year because seems worth it even if only get to half the offerings. πŸ™‚ What about you?

Yes, I’m signed up again. I learned so much from Tamara and the other teachers with their diverse styles and approaches this year. I feel like it helped my confidence with art grow as much as it developed my skills. I had to sign up again. I’m also doing Let’s Face It and, of course, your Mythology course. Lots to do!

Love the portrait Julia!! And also how you incorporated all the words. πŸ™‚ Thanks for participating, it’s so much fun to see everyone’s contributions!
