Wonderful Winter Reads

As Winter Solstice approaches, it’s a great time to get cozy with wonderful books and art supplies and spend time with kids… even if that’s the child within us! 🙂

I love children’s books any time of year, but the holidays especially seem like a great time to enjoy them, whether we have kids in our lives or to nurture our inner child. I invite you to join me. I am so grateful that our library system shares state wide so we have a fabulous selection of awesome books. I checked all of these out from the library first before deciding to buy a few favorites. I loved the first 2 so much that I bought copies for my nieces and nephew as well as my self/home! The sweet stories encourage creativity and expression so beautifully. I also like to read some of the books that my 8th grade twin boys read so we can talk about them together. We all enjoyed the Greenglass House so much that I also purchased it to add to our home library (and lend to friends) even though we already read it from the library. Both the Greenglass House and the Winterhouse take place around Christmas and are fun mysteries. If you’re enjoying summer in the southern hemisphere instead, the Inside My Imagination book is not related to any particular season.

The first row of books all have a place in my heart and on my home bookshelf now! You can click images to read more about them on Amazon.*

I’m tempted to purchase the bottom 3 as well even though we’ve already read them, especially the Winter Dance… of course it speaks right to my soul since the title and topic of the first book I published is The Girl Who Dances With Delight!

If you’re looking for simple ways to appreciate and celebrate your life every day, I invite you to dance into the New Year with me. The book is available on Amazon and signed copies are available here on my site.

2023 UPDATE: Here are a few more favorites that I’ve discovered since this post was originally shared. The first one was a gift to myself this past Christmas Eve. My family has a tradition of sharing or opening a new book on that day since we learned about the Jolabokaflod holiday. It is a lovely book with lyrical stories and scenes to warm the heart.

Do you choose books according to mood or season? I usually have several checked out from the library including a few that are related to the season like the one below.

If you enjoy listening to a splendid storyteller while doing something else with your hands (like crocheting or painting!), I highly recommend the audios by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. The Mother Night collection feels particularly fitting for winter.

If you prefer to explore your own imagination or make art inspired by the world around you, you might enjoy one of the art adventures that I host. There are several to choose from and I’d love to have you join me.

I think we are all artists, life artists!  It is in our very nature to create.

May we all find joy in the art of living. ♡

Warm Wishes to You,

Jules
