It feels like the bayside of the Keys to me with quieter waters, wooden docks, fishing lines, shallow flats, and that steady rhythm of life shaped by water and weather. I spent much of my life in Florida, and even though I live elsewhere now, those waters are still part of how I see color, movement, and energy in the natural world. I wonder how this one may speak to you? I didn’t paint it with Independence day in mind. Yet, as synchronicity happens, I painted it earlier this week as my self care act/time of the day. It was such a gift to spend a few hours playfully painting with great music after so much time spent working on my book this year. The words were prompted from the lyrics in a song and so many other mysteries and layers of life! This was the first painting of the evening. While the print doesn't have the additional glitter, it still captures the shimmering essence well. This intuitive painting made me think of stairways to heavens in memory of our loved ones that have gone before us.

Weave seems to be a word for my life… maybe for you, too, in some way? It has come up in many forms over the years for me… from learning about the ‘tapestry’ and web of life as a child to learning to crochet with my mom and Grammie to sewing quilts for my boys with my mom just before she died to the spider webs I am so drawn to around our home (preferable outdoors). I notice the shimmering threads often all around me. Creating this fun mixed-media painting made me smile as I added little symbolic touches, prayers and blessings and let it be.

Part of the Secret Garden Series - Using old seed packets in the early collage layers after planting seeds in the garden. This one is named after the dancing girl painting that was hidden within the layers and the painted lady runner bean seed packet that was used. An image of the first painting that was then collaged and painted over as a 'secret' will also be sent with the original. This painting was shared in the June solstice Thrive True ezine from 2016 paired with a poem. A printout of that page with the poem will be sent as well.
