I changed the charity after learning how little of the donations to March of Dimes went towards their mission. My twin boys were born 3 months early so that hit home for me. Angel Presence Folk Art Postcards
"Angel Presence" Folk Art Postcard ~ Available in Sets of 5 Angel is another term for messenger. May this messenger inspire and encourage. The postcards are printed from a high resolution scan of an original mixed-media painting. The wings for the angel were made using a paper doily. Her skirt is painted sheet music and there is sand embedded in the hourglass. The background was made with paper towels that had been during tie-dye projects. The message reads: embrace the present. "Grateful Heart" Folk Art Angel Postcard ~ Available in Sets of 5 Angel is another term for messenger. May this messenger inspire and encourage. The postcards are printed from a high resolution scan of an original mixed-media painting. The wings for the angel were made using actual maple leaves. The cornucopia was added with burlap. The bird nest is made of threads. The background is painted over sheet music. The message reads: the grateful heart sits at a continuous feast. Weave Love Folk Art Angel Postcards
"Weave Love" Folk Art Angel Postcard ~ Available in Sets of 5 Angel is another term for messenger. May this messenger inspire and encourage. This angel reminds me most of an angelic form of wisdom, Sophia, for some reason. In high school, I recited the song “Tapestry” by Carole King as a poem in memory of my aunt who died at the age of 18 and before I was born. So this angel reminds me of her, whom I have often imagined as my guardian angel. When I initially did the sketch, none of the above had come to mind. I just had an image of an angel holding pieces of thread that represent the different choices that make up our lives. Once the thread came to mind, the idea of a tapestry soon followed. The skirt was cut from an old shirt of my mom’s. I used the sewing machine to sew the tree in the center of the skirt with variegated thread and add the leaves on the border of the skirt. I wanted the tree to be represented in different seasons so I used acrylic paint to add spring buds, summer leaves, fall leaves, and winter bare branches with snow flakes around them. The background fabric is blue to represent the sky. The sun painted on her shirt was meant to be the sun above the tree. Then, her forehead wanted a sun, too (symbolic of wisdom, light, third eye?). The wings are made of lace and the background includes a sewing pattern. I tried to listen and let the angel share kind and encouraging messages. You can place the card on an altar, shelf, or desk or place in the mail to pass it on. ♡ May we witness angels of love and light all around us. ♡ These could also be left in public restrooms, dressing rooms, doctor's waiting rooms, or where ever else you may roam that you'd like to leave a trail spreading seeds of kindness and scattering sweet smiles.
