Welcome and thank you for taking a quick spin with me as we give it a whirl to create using a lazy susan with alcohol inks on yupo paper. This is an example of Energy Art that is infused with physical movement as well as mental or spiritual possibilities. This painting process has me more interested in kinetic and potential energy and centrifugal force than I ever was during physics class! This might make a fun homeschool or after school project. I hope you enjoy experimenting with me in this way. You can find the supply list at the end of this post.
After lingering with the art created in the video for a while and viewing it from various angles, it reminds me of mushrooms and walks in the woods. I considered several titles that were related to those subjects. I really like “Looking Up” for the encouraging aspect. Yet, I’m leaning towards “View from the Forest Floor.” That one seems to pair nicely with the other one that was created around the same time, which feels like a view from above (as if looking out an airplane window or out from a mountain top).
A few days later, I woke up thinking the one in the above video could also be called “Tilt-a-Whirl.” Is that the correct name? Do you remember the carnival ride? Is it still a thing? I might have to make another one with this process using colors that remind me more of carnival rides and the WV state fair where I used to go every summer as a kid. Have you ever painted a memory or a dream?
The other painting with a bit more ink and layers that was the first spin on the wheel will be featured in a new offering about ink art inspired by all that I’ve been learning in these explorations and expanding upon it. You can learn more about that at ThriveTrue.com/Inktastic. Projects include abstract, batik, botanical, and impressionist energy art. They are all infused with reverence, wonder, and good vibes.
If you choose to make something inspired by this or anything else for Inktober, you can share in a group for co-creative artists. We’d love to see your creations!
You can also enjoy bonus downloadable gifts, updates, special offers, and seasonal give-aways reserved for email acquaintances from ThriveTrue.com/magicmail. Recipients are selected randomly from current email subscribers around each equinox and solstice. Items could include inspiration card decks, books, art prints, or original art!
Thank You for watching. If you found it valuable and would like to practice reciprocity, you can make a donation of any amount at: ThriveTrue.com/donate. Your support helps to plant trees on the homestead, maintain a small woodland sanctuary for wildlife, plus shelter and feed a family of four. Every bit is appreciated.
I hope you’ve enjoyed this twist on Inktober and Oktoberfest combined for the Inktoberfest series. This is the finale in a 4 part series. If you haven’t seen the first 3, you can find them here on the blog or on my youtube channel and subscribe there to see future art adventures, studio stories, poetry, reviews, and more.
You can also help spread the joy by sharing the video with any creative friends who might enjoy it (there are sharing buttons down below the end of this post). Thanks!
