Fertile Ground {Painting Video & Poem}

As we transition into the New Year, may the seeds we’ve been tending grow on fertile ground.

The following poem was inspired by the painting in the video.

Fertile Ground

Here, where rivers run deep
You can wash away the fears
and satisfy your thirst.

Here, where the apples grow free
and the weeds can fill your hunger
Remember your roots.
Gather the gifts.

Follow the woodland creatures.
They know the way
to thrive with ease
on this fertile ground.

Tear down the fences
that cage you in.

Return to the holy wild.

Sometimes I wonder what our lives would be like if we allowed nature to provide for us in her own natural way without cultivating the land, big agriculture, and domestication… would we thrive on fertile ground? When I chose a card from my inspiration card deck while thinking about my word(s) for 2020, the nourishment card came up. That was also the last word I had written in my journal about what I’m thankful for right before I chose a card! The art in the painting reminds me a bit of champagne glasses being filled with grape juice or wine from the vines and quenching our thirst. I’ve been inviting and celebrating symbiosis and synergy recently. So, I think my word/phrase for 2020 is symbiotic nourishment or nourishing symbiosis. It feels healthy and fruitful.
