Ahh…. I invite you to take a moment to look into your own eyes when you get a chance!
Take these thoughts from the back of my book, The Girl Who Dances With Delight, with you when you do:
What if we fan the flames of vitality and pure joy while we get to play in the dappled sunlight at the edge of time? What if our inner tides flow in nature’s rhythm as we dance with the moon? What kind of world can we create if we share beautiful blessings with deep reverence? We are all worthy of joy! Delight can be ecstatic and exciting or strong and soft serenity and inner peace. Delight is a fascinating spark glowing inside us. See it twinkling in your eyes.
The photograph in the background of the image above was taken 5 years ago at the Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona. It reminds me of a life lesson I learned that day. We only had one day and night there during a cross country road trip to see the sunset. While trying to find a good spot to watch it and changing our minds, we ended up being on a bus as the sun went down. I had a little breakdown and threw a quick fit about it, but thankfully, I got over it much more quickly than I might have in the past. Instead of holding a grudge and throwing a prolonged pity party, I decided I wasn’t going to ruin the rest of the time I had there with my own poor attitude. What a blessing it turned out to be! We picked up a pizza to go and took it to the spot pictured above… we had it all to ourselves! It was a completely different experience than the constant crowds at sunset, sunrise, and during daytime hikes. We saw a ring-tail critter pop over the rim before it noticed we were there. The park rangers the next day said they are very rare for visitors to see except in the picture in the visitor centers. We’ve always enjoyed stargazing so it was wonderful to have that experience in such a unique place. The photographs aren’t perfect. I didn’t have a tripod with me. Yet, the memories are marvelous and delightful! I share to remind us all that we have choices about how we react to disappointment, especially in moments like that.
My new book is about life choices and leaning in to joy when we can. It is designed to use for a full 30 day moon cycle, which is the original foundation for our current months. I love the notion of dancing with the moon! I’ve started paying more attention to the phases of the moon and my own rhythms. I haven’t been very into astrology in the past and don’t know much about all the stuff mentioned by people who study it. Still, I find it interesting to consider. I’ve been enjoying new moon and full moon posts shared by the MysticMamma website for a while now. I just read the New Moon post for this month and wow! It has touched me more deeply than any before and feels full of wisdom, whether or not we buy into the star stuff. The entire post feels worth sharing and quoting! So, here is a little preview with a few excerpts and the link to read the full thing below, with respect for the site’s sharing policies:
“As individuals and as a culture, we need to make amends with where we’ve been. Our histories are all marked with stories of abuse of power and we all fall somewhere within the spectrum. This Cancer New Moon reminds us that with a compassionate heart, we can face and embrace all that has been and all that we are, and free ourselves from that which has had its hold on us. Thus opening the way for us to truly move forward.” – Mystic Mamma
“We are being guided to experience the path of evolution through ease, cooperation and relying on the wisdom of our bodies, our physical alliance with the natural world, uncovering the sensitivities of our intuitive and feeling selves, and creating new structures and communities that are inclusive and interdependent…” – Pat Liles
“As with all New Moons, it’s a time to plant seeds…These are special seeds of creativity and nurturing and emotional intelligence… We have to do our part and step into our true power by choosing our heart values instead of our culture’s values.” – Cathy Pagano

In my book, I invite readers to enjoy dancing with the stars… the ones in the night sky rather than on TV (in addition to dancing with the moon). Summer nights with a new moon are a great time to do this! 🙂
Thinking about the stars and stargazing, I wrote a poem inspired by lessons from the stargazer lilies that are blooming in our front yard. They’ve been my teachers this week!
Do you see the sacred when you look into your eyes? Do you have any similar experiences of catching yourself having a tantrum and making a different choice? Do you enjoy dancing with the stars? What seeds are you planting/tending in your life? Has Mother Nature had any gentle lessons for you lately?
Wild Wonderful Well Wishes to You!
Jules
