I wonder how this one may speak to you?

I didn’t paint it with Independence day in mind. Yet, as synchronicity happens, I painted it earlier this week as my self care act/time of the day. It was such a gift to spend a few hours playfully painting with great music after so much time spent working on my book this year. The words were prompted from the lyrics in a song and so many other mysteries and layers of life!

It reminds me how healthy it’s been to explore and express through art. I invite you to join me for a free online art playdate this month and let your heart sing. This was the first painting of the evening. It flowed fully forth so fast and freely followed by a few more and some dancing. The playlist that randomly came on Pandora during the painting session is shared below:

I’m reminded of some words from a metta prayer that hangs in our home:
“May all beings awaken to
the light of their true nature.
May all beings be free.”

I was inspired to paint that night after a wonderful conversation with a friend I hadn’t seen in over 20 years, Corinne Zupko. We talked about “the light” in each of us, which both of us write about in our books and we’re giving away a copy of each of our books. Corinne is the author of From Anxiety to Love. You can see the casual video chat below:

Here are a few more paintings in progress from that evening:

Zen Party:

I didn’t think it at the time, but looking at it now, it seems to say: May we build bridges rather than walls. It was painted over a messy background that had lumps of paint on it already so it has a very ‘wabi sabi’ energy! To me, it feels like a celebration of sharing prosperous blessings. The original Zen Party painting is now available in the gift shop.

Unfinished:
That one has sooooo many layers painting over! It took letting go and returning to free play with paint to get to this point. The journey of the creative process always intrigues me. I wonder where it will go from here or it may stay at this point. I sometimes like the energy of the paintings that don’t feel fully finished… like being present in our lives in that state!

I often paint prayers even when I don’t intend to or realize it at the time!

May we set love free.
