Facebook Fans Top 40!

What’s YOUR SONG?!?  Reminiscing about listening to a “top 40” music show as a teen and hoping that YOU will share your top songs on Loving Road Fans Top 40!  Today is my husband’s birthday so this post is dedicated to him (do you remember long distance dedications?).  He’s a musician and we both love all kinds of music… please be sure to share your faves on the Loving Road page here!

I’ll start!  I LOVE soooo many songs that it’s hard to pick just one…  So, I’m going to have to pick at least two.

My first one goes out to my husband in honor of his birthday: Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash, which we listened to on our road trip last summer as we approached Crater Lake.  We made a play list for the cross country USA trip to have it’s own soundtrack of sorts.  I am so grateful to have him to share this part of life’s journey with.

The second one goes out to all of YOU who are taking the time to read this and participate: How sweet it is to be loved by you by James Taylor.  You all truly make my heart sing!  You make it worthwhile to put forth the time and effort to maintain this blog and the courage it takes to share my soul.  Thank you!

I now have a separate music page (in progress) on this site just for great songs.  I’ll be adding my “happy” mix list, and I’ll share the results of this Loving Rd Fans Top 40 there!

Music and lyrics often play a part in my creative process.  It fills my soul and frequently shows up in my art.  I sometimes find myself singing as a form of meditation or prayer when creating.  While making this painting for my cousin’s baby on the way, I was singing My Wish for You by Rascal Flatts.  The lyrics may not be physically written on the final painting, but that positive energy certainly was put into it.

The above “whimsy girls” were from watching week 2 of Tamara LaPorte’s free Art, Heart, & Healing course, which is highly recommended if you like art and journaling!

While making the painting below for a dear friend, the song True Colors by Cyndi Lauper kept playing in my head.  Again, I did not use those lyrics in the finished painting for her (because I requested that she share some that were particularly meaningful to her right now).  However, I did save a scan of the painting before adding the personalized message for her so that I could add the true colors message for postcards (which will be available soon in the Etsy shop!).

I recall my son constantly humming a tune and saying he was drawing a song when he was a toddler.  I now realize that I often do that, too.  🙂

I even sing myself to sleep sometimes!  Do you ever do that?

I read a novel once that talked about the “soundtrack” of someone’s life.  I didn’t realize that’s what I had done at the time, but I made a video memorial for my mom set to music.  What a lovely soundtrack her life had!  See it on this site’s new music page.

I sure hope you’ll share a favorite song (or two!) with us today and play along.  Click here to add a song in a comment on the Loving Rd facebook page.  What’s YOUR SONG?!?
