Celebrating Variety & GIVING Thanks

Announcing a new Loving Rd shop on the Society6 website – thanks to an offer that finally put an end to my procrastination! They (Society6) use the artwork I upload to produce a variety of items, such as phone skins, coffee mugs, pillows, etc. in addition to gallery quality art prints. (The Loving Rd Etsy shop is still active as well – this is a way to offer more variety!)  I’m doing a give-away to celebrate!!  See details below. 🙂

I’m excited and enjoying the fact that I’m finally doing this instead of listening to the nagging critic in my head that never thinks anything is good enough! If you want to share any of the links or take a look, that’s great… if not, no pressure at all!  This is just a way to make my art available in more ways (there isn’t much profit in it).

starstote

One night while sitting on the back porch talking to my mom (after her death), I said, “I really miss the sparkle in your eyes.” and I saw one of the brightest shooting stars I’ve ever seen right at that moment. So this little saying has a very special meaning to me and has been a favorite reminder that I’ve often shared with friends and family during difficult times, such as loss of loved ones. I made a new background this weekend for these words that would fit on the Society6 site coffee mugs and tote bags so I could order some for myself.

I’m feeling very thankful – for each and every one of YOU that reads this blog or has “liked” the Loving Road facebook page. And I want to give away one of these coffee mugs as a thank you (I’d really love to give one to each of you, but I’d be in trouble when the credit card bill came… so I’ll have to do a random drawing for 1). To enter, simply SHARE the related post from the Loving Road facebook page with give-way details. I’ll select a winner this evening before the sale ends and have it shipped directly to you from Society6. {Which means I’ll need a reply to the winner’s announcement/private message with a mailing address before 11pm EST) Best of luck!

The Documented Life Project Prompt for Week 42 happened to be stars so I’m gladly adding this to my DLP planner for that week and catching up some! 🙂

Also, I attempted a little Thanksgiving prose to go with this tree I painted, shown here on a Society6 pillow.  I truly am grateful for each of you, that connect with me in some way.  You encourage me more than I can adequately express.  Thank YOU!

gratefulheartpillow

It reads: “A grateful heart dances like leaves with the wind.”

Y’all make my heart dance. 🙂 <3

I loved your art page on DLP so much that I followed the link to read more…
The story of you talking to your Mum, and then seeing that shooting star brought tears to my eyes!
My own precious Mummy is in end stage Alzheimer’s, and is very frail.
She was given 24-48 hours to live.
    That was a year ago!
So we have been blessed to have her for an extra year, she is very content, loving and sometimes knows me. Other times she seems very far away.

I loved the mugs, and thought I would order 2, for such a moment as you spent with your dear Mum on the back porch.
I thought that I had missed the special offer, as it was 2pm 10th November here in the UK!
However, amazingly, miraculously, I was still in time!

I can not express how delighted I am to have your beautiful artwork and this poignant quote on 2 mugs, sent free to the UK!
Thank you for sharing your story and your art.

I have signed up to read more, but for now, much love, hugs and gratitude from the bottom of my heart.

Sue, thank you for taking the time to leave such a beautiful comment. My family has been through that disease as well, with my grandparents. I hope and pray that the good times will continue to lift you up through the hard ones. I am so glad you found me and to be connecting with more people near and far. <3 It really helps encourage me to keep investing the time to write the blog and share my art to know that it does reach someone and touch their hearts. And, I am thrilled to hear that you made it in time for the free shipping offer all the way to the UK! I had no control over the promotion or I would keep it going. I am glad to hear a few people were able to take advantage of it. I stocked up a little myself. 🙂 Much love and well wishes to you and your family. <3

Hi Nancy! Thanks so much for the kind words. <3 Yes, you can order anytime. They do promotions every so often, but I have no control over when and what they are. It seems they must have extended this sale because I just placed another order today and still got the $5 discount and free shipping deal. 🙂 I will be sure to post any promotional links on the Loving Road facebook page if/when Society6 runs a deal! You can order the mugs and tote at anytime so whatever is best for you. 🙂 I'm sure your art is special, too – because it is YOURS! I always feel that mine is not up to par if compare with the other amazing artists out there, but I love to create and it is therapeutic to me so I keep at it. 🙂 It's the courage it takes to share it that is sometimes difficult to muster. 😉 Best wishes to you and thank you so much for visiting my blog!

To my sweet friend at LovingRd,

Well my dear friend, the time arrived 2 weeks ago for me to get out my lovely new mugs.
My beloved Mum closed her precious blue eyes on Thursday 7th May, and with my Dad and brothers around her, she slipped away in the early hours of Monday 11th May.

I spoke at her funeral last Tuesday, reading excerpts from my journals.
My tribute was called “My Mother’s Eyes”, and just like you, it will be the sparkle and twinkle in her beautiful blue eyes that I will miss SO much…

When Mum closed her eyes on that Thursday, it felt as though the sun stopped shining, and the World became a darker place.

It is very early days for me yet.
Sometimes I forget that she has gone, and I find myself thinking of little stories to tell her, or I see strawberries and think that I will buy them, as she loves them so…

Then I catch myself; and the grief washes over me afresh.

I just wanted to tell you that now I too will be looking out for shooting stars.
For now though, I will take comfort from my favourite drink, sipped from your beautiful mug. Just the right size to wrap my hands around, to caress and savour the warmth.

As my broken heart searches for light in this “forever darkness”; and I thank you for walking this path before me, and providing such comfort through your art work.

    With love and gratitude,

    Sue xx <3 xx

Sue, Thank you for sharing your story with me. It is quite humbling, yet amazing, to feel that the universe has brought us together online and that the art that flowed through me and sharing my own experience has been able to touch you and hopefully, feel held in a moment with a virtual hug by someone else that has been through similar emotions. I recently wrote another blog post that might interest you about the way love shines on beyond all space and time: https://lovingrd.wordpress.com/2015/05/14/love-shines-on/ May you feel your mother’s love shining on, in and through you always. <3 Much love to you. Julia
