As I wrote in my book, “I paint and write of the deepest wounds in poetry, which seems to ease the burden for the witness and me.” Both painting and poetry have been very healing. Since finishing the book, I’ve been able to give more time to these again. I love being able to share freely with you digitally and hope that I may reflect some pure beauty and deep joy to you in the process. Here are a few recent paintings that have been so healing for me.
What would you call the one below? I’d love to hear in the comments for this post! I’m totally loving the painting in progress. She already has a name in my head and heart… yet, I’m curious what story/title others feel from it? I see the influence and inspiration from many artists with a healthy dose of my own eclectic style, nature, and touch mixed in. It tells a very personal and healing story for me. It is about reclaiming our joy, worth, and pure presence. It seems fitting after the journey to finish my book about dancing with delight, livening up, and letting our hearts sing. 🎶
I’m also loving the one below that I just finished near the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse. The title was inspired by one of the songs that came on while painting called “Peace Tonight.” That also inspired me to add the luna moth. The original painting and art prints are now available in the shop. The original sparkles with glitter, which is hard to capture in a photo or scan. I love the way it catches the light from many different angles. It reminds me of the lyrics from one of the songs in the painting’s playlist about stars dancing on the water. It feels like a welcome invitation and sanctuary from “the drama in humanity” as I wrote about in the recent “Zoom In” poem.
Like many of my paintings, “Peace Tonight” has it’s own playlist!
(You can listen to it on youtube if you don’t have spotify.)
I also received a picture of the following print from the “Twilight Picnic” painting freshly framed to grace a happy home recently, which inspired some of the techniques in the paintings above. I am so honored when someone chooses to bring my art into their home. I still get giddy and super grateful every time! I often greet the blank surface as both a playground and a temple, a place to meet with mystery, explore the wonders and my own wilderness, play with possibility, sing, pray, cry, celebrate and co-create with the life force that flows through all! It’s such a blessing and connection when others appreciate what flows forth as well.
I’ve been playing with painting a lot lately so I’m sharing more new paintings! 🙂 You can use coupon code “HANG10” to receive 10% off when you order 2 or more prints together before August 31st, 2018.
If you prefer to be the one painting, I’d love to have you join me for an art playdate to explore and express your own beautiful voice and stories. I’m currently editing video for a few new online creative courses, including the BRAND NEW PLAYFUL PAINTING MINI SERIES offering! You can sign-up to receive notifications for early specials when they are available at ThriveTrue.com/MagicMail. Many of my current courses are available as ‘pay what you want’ so they are affordable to anyone.
I’d also love to hear from you in the comments! What would you call the first painting above? What brings you peace? What do you love about the art in your home?
Wishing You Peace,
Jules
