~ Soul Songs ~ Inspiration Cards Guide By Julia Ostara
I love to invite beautiful blessings and graceful guidance when drawing from decks like this. If something specific has been on your mind, you may consider if/how a card might apply to that. If you feel drawn to select multiple cards, go ahead! I hope these may be an encouraging tool for tuning in to your own head, heart, soul and inner guidance… kind of like a radio antenna (or wifi!) that can reduce the static so we can sense more clearly. We all bring our own experiences, perspectives, ideas & interpreations to life… listen to your instincts while using these to enable your own unique insights & soul songs to come forth. Notice the thoughts that play like a soundtrack in the head. Choose which ones you give attention to with awareness. What makes your heart sing?
Suggestions for How to Use this Deck:
Daily, Weekly, or Monthly Pick: Simply come in to the moment, perhaps take a deep breath or close your eyes. Shuffle the deck. Choose a card to consider.
Visual Attraction Pick: Look through the cards with the word/art sides facing you. Choose what seems to ‘sing’ to you.
Journal Prompts: Select a card & write (or paint, art journal, collage, draw, etc)
Meditation/Prayer Prompt: Select a card, either before or after, to focus on.
Conversation Starter: Select a card to share & discuss together for various perspectives.
Soundtrack Refresh: Select a card. Notice what thoughts/lyrics immediately play in your head. Edit if desired! (put on repeat?)
Name That Tune: Select a card. Does any song come to mind that may add insight?
Dance Pick: Select a card. If it brings a song to mind, put it on and dance (or sing) along! Or access the song/playlist for card at ThriveTrue.com/cardsonglist
~ Soul Songs ~ Alphabetical Card List to Reference More Information when Available:
Beauty ~ The painting is called “Luna Beauty.” The original painting was inspired by a Luna moth I saw one night shortly after my mom died. The thought that “there is beauty in darkness as well” came to me, which is written on the original painting. This was featured on the cover of the very first Thrive True ezine. You can receive immediate access to all of the free Thrive True ezines by signing up for the Heart to heART emails. Also available as: Art Prints, Tote Bags
Communion ~ The painting is called “Communion.” It was inspired by nature and the animals that visit our backyard. One snowy morning, I took a photo of a cardinal on the bird feeder and a deer standing nearby looking up at the bird. Also available as: Original, Art Prints, Tote Bags
Dance ~ The painting is called “Painted Lady.” The original painting was part of the Secret Garden Series – Using old seed packets in the early collage layers after planting seeds in the garden. This one has a dancing lady deep within the garden. I edited the original for the card deck to bring back to view more of the lady that was painted over in later layers. This painting was featured in one of the Thrive True ezines along with a poem by a contributor. You can access all the free Thrive True ezines by signing up to receive the Heart to heART emails. Also available as: Original, Art Prints, Tote Bags
Encouragement ~ The painting is called “The Sun Also Rises” and has a blog post about it at thrivetrue.com/birthday-blessings. Also available as: Original, Art Prints, Mugs, Tote Bags.
Exploration ~ The painting is called “Trail Mix.” The original painting was part of the Secret Garden Series – Using old seed packets in the early collage layers after planting seeds in the garden. This one is named for the Trailing Nasturtium Mix packet that is part of it and hikes in the Blue Ridge mountains where we live. Also available as: Original, Art Prints, Mugs, Tote Bags

Home ~ The painting is called “Twilight in Shangri-La.” No applicable posts.
Hope ~ The painting is called “Go On.” Another one with bits of a song painted in it. The words were the last thing added inspired by song that came on while painting called “Go on” by Elephant Revival. Here are a few of the lyrics: “Go on, Go on and find your life now… Don’t wait, don’t fear. And don’t work too hard. Don’t worry ’cause you’re here. You’re here, through ever-shifting shades And now somehow… It’s love, It’s love that keeps me high enough… most things can hurt or help. It’s up to us… Go on, go on. Go do those things you’ve always wanted to, My friend. When the morning comes our dreams Don’t have to end. It’s true. I’ll be there when I can for you, my friend.” Grateful for online connections making friends all around this amazing world. May we “go on” into our beautiful life journeys with a gentle wind of love, reverence, and joy in our sails.
Imagination ~ The painting is called “la la land.” No applicable posts.
Innocence ~ The painting is called “Pure Light” and has a blog post about it at thrivetrue.com/purelight. Also available as: Original, Prints, Mugs, & Totes
Intermission ~ This painting is called “Soul Vacation.” “Now, that she’s back from that soul vacation…” ♡ Though I don’t actually recall singing this song while lost in the creation of this one, it totally makes me think of it now!!! I do recall singing my own version about the Milky Way so maybe I was “tracing my way through the constellations.” Also influenced by natural inspiration collected on walk, coneflower, pinecone, and queen anne’s lace, along with documentary about the “simulation hypothesis” watched with my boys! Apparently, painting is my way of processing/pondering it all.
Kindness ~ The painting is part of the Heartlight Angel series. I used it for holiday cards one year. No applicable posts.
Legacy ~ The painting is called “Song of Echoes” and has a blog post about it at thrivetrue.com/echoes. What do you hear? One of the songs that came on while I was painting this showed up in a more obvious way. This one also reminds me of the love that lives on after earthly bodies die. It’s been 7 years since I watched my mom take her last breath (on June 15th, 2010). The grief can still be so heavy at times and I miss her laugh and touch so very much. Yet, I often hear the echo of her love and wisdom in my head and heart and know that love lives on. Also available as: Original, Prints, Mugs & Totes
Liberation ~ Wild and free and fun! It almost always feels good to simply play with art supplies like a kid. How do you invite your inner child to stick around and stay young at heart? These shapes made me think of feather trees and fairytales.
Love Song ~ The painting is called “Bird Song” and has a blog post about it at thrivetrue.com/wild-wonderfull-well-wishes-new-year. Also available as: an art print on a mug or tote bag.
Mother Mystery ~ Magic… that’s what the creative process often feels like to me! This painting has taken me on such a journey into the mystic…May it feel like a hug from Mother Mystery to you, too. ♡ Dedication, poetic message, and video blog post about it at thrivetrue.com/mothermystery.
Opening ~ The painting is called “Unfolding.” The text reads “Trust the Unfolding.” Also available as: Art Prints
Perception ~ The painting was done after a visualization that felt like a vision quest while listening to “Healing Light” audible speech led by Toltec guide don Oscar Miro-Quesada.
Presence ~ The painting is called “Blooming Presence.” It was inspired by the blooming pineapple sage plant in our garden and yellow moths or butterflies that love it along with the words ‘presents’ and ‘presence” which were collaged into the art from an old dictionary page. It was created as part of “The Present” Thrivival online retreat course. Also available as: Art Prints, Mugs, Tote Bags.
Receptive ~ The painting is called “Medicine Collector” inspired by various cultures and traditions. I used old clothing scraps saved from making quilts to make the dress (from my kids’ clothes and mom’s clothes).
Rejoice ~ The painting is called “Full & Free.” I felt like celebrating blessings and giving thanks and feeling both full and free as the full moon came and went while I created it. Each little butterfly represents gratitude. May we all hold blessings in our hands and hearts. This was partly inspired by the song I used to sing to my twin boys when they were little with a slight change to pronouns. It also reminds me of motto for twin mom group that “if you think our hands are full, you should see our hearts.” Also, as I was finishing it, I learned of a refugee family situation that is heart wrenching story so I now dedicate this and a prayer hoping that they may be blessed with freedom as well. Art is one way I pour my heart out when I feel helpless. Embracing the imperfections in this one, realizing how fragile life is, and celebrating anyway!
Relief ~ This was painted during a time with a scary health concern. May we all be blessed with the strength to dance in the rain and beautiful rainbows after the storms in our lives.
Reminiscence ~ The painting is called “Sippin’ on Sweet Memories” and is mentioned in a blog post at thrivetrue.com/echoes. Original is available.
Renewal ~ This was painted on a rainy day and the text reads: drinking straight from the raindrops.
Rest ~ The painting is called “Dreamweaver.” Dream a little dream… I spent an evening playfully drawing on a random painted canvas and it reminded me of the aboriginal idea of Dreamtime. Now, it has several songs coming to mind! It is called “Dreamweaver.” It feels a bit bizarre just like nightly dreams!
Rhythm ~ No applicable posts.
Sacred ~ The painting is called “Divine Seed.” The text in this one reads: “You, honey, are a seed of the divine.” Also available as: Art Prints, Mugs
Surrender ~ This painting is still in progress. Do you ever feel like we are all blowing in the wind? For some reason, the opening lines from a soap opera just popped into my head: “Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.” Life can feel like a soap opera sometimes! May the wind be gentle and the days be blessed. This is part of a work in process painting that has been hanging out with me for a long time while I listen to see what it has to say and if/what else it wants. I’ve worked with it mostly outside and feeling the wind in my hair thus far.
Thrive ~ The painting is called “Muse.” Also available as: Art Prints, Mugs
Vitality ~ The painting is called “Full Circle.” May fullness find us all… as in feeling full of life and love. This canvas had a big gash right in the middle of it from being damaged while it was still blank. I did a collage layer first to ‘heal the wound’ and then, started adding paint. It’s a different kind of vision board than I have made before… more ‘in the present’ and based on actual visions from recent deep healing while reading book “Avalon Within.” This one has had a few different potential names along the way, such as: Lady of the Lake, Milk and Honey, Yin and Yang in Harmony, Tree of Life, Sacred Fountain. It has various sentiments and words within and started as a collage with intention of ‘healing wounds’ and healing a torn canvas. Since it happened to be finished as the moon was full and the words ‘full circle’ are embedded within it, it is now called “Full Circle.” May we all be blessed with full circles… of loving companions, of cycles and projects fulfilled, of healthy lives. Also available as: Original, Art Prints, Tote Bags
Wealthy ~ The painting is called “Treasure Within.” ~ No applicable posts.
Weave ~ This painting is part of the Heartlight Angel series. I used cloth saved from one of my mom’s shirts to make the skirt. The tree was sewn on with thread before adding paint. The wings are made from lace and the background is from a sewing pattern.
Wind of Change ~ The painting is called “Wind of Change” and has a blog post about it that includes her poetic message at thrivetrue.com/windofchange. Take me to the Magic of the Moment… on the Wind of Change. This has been the theme song for this painting! She has taken me on quite a journey and has so much to say. She also insisted on giving a bow to the divine wonder within each of us. Also available as: Original or Art Prints.
