“Swimming Through Sea Fans”
Swimming Through Sea Fans
Original Florida Keys Inspired Mixed-Media Painting
Swimming Through Sea Fans is a 5x7 inch original mixed-media artwork inspired by snorkeling and scuba diving experiences on the coral reefs of the Florida Keys, particularly near Key Largo and Islamorada. Rendered in an abstract, intuitive impressionist style, the piece captures the sensation of drifting through underwater gardens where sea fans sway gently and light moves in quiet rhythms.
Although small in size, this artwork carries deep meaning and reverence. It reflects a lifelong connection to the ocean and the influence of spending most of my 50 years in Florida, immersed in coastal landscapes that continue to inform my art even after leaving the state.
Layered textures and organic marks echo the movement of water and coral, inviting stillness and reflection. This piece is part of a body of work honoring lived experience, environmental memory, and the landscapes that shape us.

“Throw Me a Line”
Throw Me a Line
Original Florida Keys Inspired Mixed-Media Painting (frame not included)
Throw Me a Line is a small original mixed-media painting created using a few watercolors with black ink flowing through like nautical rope or casting shadows. Created during the same session as Mermaid Map, this piece explores movement, memory, and coastal rhythm through intuitive mark-making. It feels like the bayside of the Keys to me with quieter waters, wooden docks, fishing lines, shallow flats, and that steady rhythm of life shaped by water and weather. I spent much of my life in Florida, and even though I live elsewhere now, those waters are still part of how I see color, movement, and energy in the natural world. The piece is a small vessel of vitality, a reflection of the landscapes of life.
