I’ve been busy back to school planning as we make the transition into high school in our house. I’ve come across some resources that I thought I’d share with you all in case it saves anyone else a bit of time. I found some good reading lists along with free study guides and some science stuff. See links to each below. I have no affiliation with any of these… just passing them on in case others might find useful. Please feel free to add your own suggestions in the comments if you have something worth sharing. Thanks!
Study guides (I did sign up for the free account to access): https://www.coursehero.com/lit/
I wish I had found this sooner, but glad for it now. The reading lists are worth checking out and can be seen without purchasing anything (in the descriptions for each level). I haven’t used this before, but I am going to try it this year for the discussion questions and activities about literature, history and science for levels 8 and 9. There is a coupon code in the post for 20% off this week only (I have no affiliation – just passing it on in case anyone else may appreciate it). https://buildyourlibrary.com/build-your-library-summer-sale/
Another blog with reading lists by subject. The authors of the one above and this one have different worldviews, but they still have some crossover of book suggestions. https://lettersfromnebby.wordpress.com/lists-of-living…/
We might try this for science in the future (it is what the Build Your Library program mentioned above uses for biology and chemistry): https://www.ck12.org/browse/
Another recommended resource from home school group I belong to: https://thecrashcourse.com/courses
The Khan Academy of the Big History Project was also recommended to us: https://www.khanacademy.org/partner-content/big-history-project
I have more to add as we get a better feel for them. I’m also in the process of combining various book lists by subject to share here directly. So, you might wish to bookmark this page to check back in the future.
Please feel free to add your own suggestions in the comments if you have something worth sharing. Thanks!
Happy learning and living!
Love,
Jules
