It’s wonderful when an original painting finds a loving home! The one pictured here is called “Expanding with Flow.” It recently sold (technically, it was bartered) and took a journey to Florida. It has nautilus and turquoise energies within it that feel so healthy and potent. What symbolism or ideas do you associate with nautilus shells? What about with the turquoise color or stone?
Here are some highlights that stood out to me when I looked them up after the painting was finished. Turquoise represents peace, friendship, and good fortune. The chambered nautilus is an ancient creature from the sea. As they grow, they build new chambers and use the old ones to maintain buoyancy. Nautilus shells can symbolize spiritual evolution, learning, strength, and expanding views.
I had forgotten that it also has marks inspired by a pine cone. Thankfully, I recorded the process! It’s been great for me to look back at the video since I want to make more paintings with similar vibes, ease, and flow. It’s available so others can join me for “Flow Time” as well. I’m thinking of it as a virtual art playdate that can be enjoyed anytime, anywhere.
This is the kind of painting that doubts may have prevented me from showing or letting be in the past. It’s rather raw and very playful, yet also deep in symbolism and vitality. Making boat loads of paintings has helped me to trust my own touch and tastes (at least most of the time).
So, for anyone struggling with self doubt, I hope you can keep trusting your own joy, liveliness, and love. We are all human and there is surely someone else out there that shares similar vibes and can value you and your creations. In the meantime, keep choosing and loving yourself. And, hopefully, have someone who will cheer you on if you need it!
